The model of the establishment of an academic and research network of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which the University Teleinformatics Center - UTIC and the Center for Information Technologies - SUMIT will send to the Board of Rectors/Conference of BiH was one of the topics of the meeting of the director of the University Teleinformatics Center - UTIC prof. Dr. Elmedin Selmanović and doc. Dr. Tomislav Volarić, assistant rector for information technologies and innovations and head of the Center for Information Technologies of the University of Mostar.

The establishment of the academic and research network NREN would enable the academic community to access information, services and resources at the national, international and global level. This means that the academic community can access information and services in all European countries. It also allows the academic community to more easily join international research projects, collaborating with researchers from other countries.

Other projects were also discussed, especially cooperation on projects of digital transformation of education, where the possibility of cooperation in the establishment of educational information systems was considered.

Academic electronic identity is one of the technical prerequisites that will enable better connection of higher education institutions. Academic Electronic Identity (AEI) is a unique identifier used to identify academic persons and their academic activities. AEI is used to identify academic persons and their academic activities, such as research, education, collaboration and information exchange.

Joint cooperation between UTIC and SUMIT on domestic and international projects was considered, which would realize the significant potential of these two IT centers.
