"Strengthening collaboration between the University of Mostar and Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica

A meeting was held at Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, between the administration of this university and the vice rectors and representatives of the University of Mostar. The aim is to continue the successful collaboration by expanding and exploring new opportunities for Erasmus/Ceepus student mobility, initiating new joint publishing projects and appearances, and continuing collaboration in scientific research at the faculty level.

Professor Dr. Peter Terem, Vice-Rector for Science and Research at Matej Bel University, presented new projects of Matej Bel University, development plans, and spoke about the success of the current collaboration with a focus on the joint graduate program in Political Science conducted by the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Mostar and the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations at Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica. "The first generation of students from this joint program has already graduated, and we are extremely proud of them. Science and education are the meeting point of our university and the University of Mostar, and the results so far indicate that we are doing a good job. Our fundamental goal, which we all should strive for, is to create conditions for quality learning for all students, as this will enable them to acquire knowledge to achieve goals for the benefit of society as a whole," emphasizes Prof. Dr. Peter Terem.

The University of Mostar and Matej Bel University have signed a bilateral agreement and jointly participate and successfully implement projects to build capacity in the field of higher education, as well as in the Emerge alliance stemming from the European Universities initiative.

Professor Dr. Sanja Bijakšić, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at the University of Mostar, also announced new projects and development plans for the University of Mostar, emphasizing the importance of launching new joint study programs, as well as joint courses in English at all study levels. "With joint efforts and capacities, we can achieve even greater results. It is important that we meet, discuss challenges, solutions, and opportunities for progress because higher education is an area where there is no 'rest.' We learn from each other and pass on this knowledge and experience to our students. We are excited about collaboration and ready for new joint projects."

An important part of higher education is the implementation of digital education and innovations in teaching processes, in which the University of Mostar has valuable experience through SUMIT - the IT Center of the University of Mostar, led by Professor Dr. Tomislav Volarić, who presented models and ways of using new technologies in education at the meeting, also presented SUMIT and emphasized the importance of embracing digital trends in education.

Also present at the meeting were Professor Dr. Jarmila Kmetova, Vice-Rector for Teaching, Accreditation, and Internal Quality System at Matej Bel University, and Professor Dr. Katarina Chovancova from the Office of International Cooperation at Matej Bel University, as well as the Vice-Rectors of the University of Mostar, Professor Dr. Zdenko Klepić and Professor Dr. Ivo Čolak, and Assistant Professors Dr. Damir Vasilj and Dr. Franjo Takač.
