Minister Anušić stated that compulsory military service is in preparation and that there are several proposals which will later be presented to the Prime Minister.
Defense Minister Ivan Anušić appeared yesterday on RTL Danas and commented on all current political topics, from the reintroduction of compulsory military service to whether everything is ready for the long-awaited Rafales.
The minister said that compulsory military service is in preparation and that there are several proposals which will later be presented to the Prime Minister.
"We are preparing compulsory military service, there will be three proposals. Already next week, we will have finished proposals that the Armed Forces have been preparing for about 15 days, and we will present them to the Prime Minister," Anušić said.
In his opinion, three months of military training are sufficient to acquire all necessary military skills. "I think that three months of military service are quite enough. There will be three models. The issue is whether you have the operational and infrastructural capabilities to conduct a 3-month, 6-month, or one-month training. This is very important because when we talk about three months, we are talking about 17,000 young people who need to enter the military training process per generation," the minister explained.
The minister emphasized that everything is ready for the arrival of the Rafales in April and that they will be immediately available to our pilots.
"They are coming in April, and six of them will come from France by overflight. We will have the first six in the hands of Croatian pilots very soon. It is possible that the elections will follow after them, but there is also the possibility that it could be in June, July, or September," Anušić concluded.
In the conversation, he said that he believes the elections could be in May, but that he does not decide on that and that we will definitely visit the polling stations by September.
