The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Mostar is launching a new postgraduate university specialist study program, European Union Project Management, with enrollment beginning in February 2026.
The program is offered in a hybrid format, combining in-person and online classes. This flexible model ensures greater accessibility and balance between professional responsibilities and academic advancement.
Program Head Prof. Dr. Žana Martinović, a distinguished expert with extensive practical experience in EU project preparation and implementation, emphasized that the goal of the program is to train professionals who view EU projects not merely as a funding mechanism, but as a powerful tool for creating real, sustainable, and measurable societal change. “The hybrid format makes the program particularly accessible to participants from Central Bosnia, Posavina, and other more remote areas,” she added.
Practical Learning with Experienced Professionals
Prof. Martinović explained that the curriculum is highly practice-oriented, focusing on real project scenarios, knowledge application, and the development of concrete skills necessary for successful EU project management. “The teaching will involve proven practitioners with many years of experience in preparing, implementing, and managing projects funded by European funds,” said Prof. Martinović.
She highlighted the focus on strategic thinking, professionalism, ethics, interdisciplinarity, and the development of partnership networks. “Our aim is to train project managers who can identify the real needs of their communities and turn them into high-quality, long-term sustainable projects financed by European funds,” Prof. Martinović added.
Program Details
This one-year university study program carries 60 ECTS credits and is offered in both Croatian and English, in full-time and part-time modes. Graduates receive the academic title Master Specialist (mag. spec.) in European Union Project Management, corresponding to Level 7 of the QF-EHEA.
The program is open to graduates of university studies in the social sciences or related fields, with the possibility of completing additional bridging courses if required.
Collaboration with Partner Institutions
A key feature of the program is its collaboration with partner institutions, giving students the opportunity to see best practices in action, observe successful EU project implementation in real institutional settings, and gain first-hand experience with challenges and solutions in project execution.
“Although European funds are now accessible to a wide range of users, their successful use requires professionally trained personnel capable of meeting high administrative, financial, and content standards,” Prof. Martinović emphasized.
The program is aimed at employees and future professionals in public institutions, government and local administration bodies, NGOs of all types, public and private companies, as well as any citizens interested in developing a professional career in project management and working on projects funded by European funds.
