Petar Musa, after a dream move to Portuguese Benfica in the summer of 2022, struggled to replicate the excellent goal-scoring form he showcased at Boavista. With six goals in 25 appearances across all competitions for the Lisbon giants this season, Musa has been subject to transfer speculations across various leagues and countries. It now seems that Petar Musa is set for a move to the USA.
Multiple sources report today that Benfica has reached an agreement with Dallas FC, an MLS team, for a transfer fee of 10 million euros for Musa.
An additional three million euros in variable bonuses are expected by Benfica later. Musa is scheduled to fly to Portugal next week to undergo medical examinations before signing the contract with his new employers. Last year, Musa made his debut for the Croatian national team (6 appearances).
The tall Zagreb native has had a diverse career path, playing for Dragovoljac, NK Zagreb, Inter Zaprešić, Slavia Prague, Slovan Liberec, Union Berlin, and Boavista.
Benfica paid a transfer fee of 5 million euros for him and will now make a significant profit from his sale. Musa's decision is somewhat surprising, considering he is a 25-year-old who could still compete in European club football for several more years.
