Donna Vekić has been seen as destined for greater things since the early days of her career. Some even envisioned her competing in the finals of the biggest tennis tournaments. Her journey has been filled with ups and downs, from moments of playing the tennis of her life to struggling to string together consecutive wins at tournaments.

Her highest WTA ranking was 19th in 2019. It was clear she had the potential for more, but there were always setbacks, injuries plentiful among them. Yet, she always believed in herself.

"I've always dreamed of winning a Grand Slam and becoming number one in the tennis world," Donna Vekić said three years ago.

Now, she is just two steps away from tennis immortality. Today, the Croatian tennis player will battle for a spot in the Wimbledon final on Centre Court starting at 2:30 PM. Her opponent is the 7th-ranked player in the world, Jasmine Paolini. Vekić has defeated Paolini once before but lost twice. The match will be broadcast on Sport Klub 1. Elena Rybakina and Barbora Krejčikova will compete for the other spot in the final.
