According to reports, Mesna industrija Braća Pivac is in the final stages of acquiring the renowned Celjske mesnine in Slovenia, while simultaneously opening a new plant in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Specifically, the acquisition involves three business segments of the Slovenian company with a long tradition of production.

The acquisition targets are the prosciutto and cured meats production plant, known as Pršutarna Lokev na Krasu, the meat production and processing plant in Celje, and the production of mortadella and other durable and semi-durable products, according to Jutarnji list.

Celjske mesnice also have a wine and sparkling wine production segment, the famous Radgonska Gorica, which, as far as is known, is not part of the acquisition by Mesna industrija Braća Pivac.

The Meat Industry Braća Pivac has neither confirmed nor denied this information, stating that they do not comment on unofficial information and speculation. Sources claim that the acquisition is agreed upon, and unless something unforeseen happens, this acquisition will significantly strengthen Mesna industrija Braća Pivac's position in the Slovenian market.

Their investment in a facility for the processing and production of meat products in Ljubuški is also in the implementation phase, which will solidify the company's market position in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Celjske mesnice has a long tradition and rich experience dating back to 1899. They generate an annual revenue of around 100 million euros and employ over 450 workers.

Today, Pivac is the leading meat processing group in Croatia. Of the five leading Croatian companies in this industry, three are owned by the Pivac family. Mesna industrija Braća Pivac and Mesna industrija PPK Karlovac are in second and third place, respectively, and Mesna industrija Vajda is in fifth place.

Thus, all three companies from the Pivac group system are among the top five, making the Pivac group the leading domestic company in the meat processing sector overall.

The Pivac family also owns Adria Sol, which operates hotels in Makarska and Dubrovnik, as well as several other small firms. It is also known that Kraš, the leading confectionery industry in Zagreb, is majority-owned by them, and they hold over six percent of Podravka's shares.
